Itinerary description

This is part 1 of my 5-day hike in westerm Hajar mountains from February 28th to March 04th, 2017.

The trail follows trekking routes W9 and W10h as recommended by the ministry of tourism of the Sultanate of Oman. See their official website.
The hike offers stunning views to the south towards Al Hamra as well as to the north to Hat and Balad Sayt. Both routes are perfectly marked, so the trail can hardly be missed.
Bring sufficient water for a strenuous hot day. There is only one water source along the way, which is a natural water cistern collecting rain water. For drinking, this water must be filtered or purified (taking time).
The whole trail took me 9 hours with heavy (>20kg) backpack. Fitter persons with lighter load might be faster. Please notice the limited daylight time: in March, sunset is at about 6 P.M., in January at 5:30. So it is recommended to start early.
I had acommodation at Misfah Old House and at Shorfet Al Alamin Hotel. Both can be recommended.

The subsequent part of the hike can be found here.
