Autumn trip to Mikulov, a town in the South Moravian Bohemia region. The city is located a few kilometers from the border with Lower Austria. In 1952, the city center was declared a historic area. October was especially favorable for a nostalgic atmosphere, we had a cloudless sky and perfect light with intense colors, which we managed to capture in photos throughout the day. And, of course, young Moravian wine.
It is worth remembering that apart from us, the Polish king Władysław IV, Emperor Ferdinand III, also visited Mikulov. Anyway, the former felt offended by his inappropriate dignity being greeted by the emperor during the meeting in 1638. Personally, we had a completely different impression - we came back delighted and enchanted. The place is definitely conducive to strengthening love and friendship. This is probably why Napoleon Bonaparte also chose the Palace in Mikulov as the place of peace talks after the Battle of Austerlitz between France and Austria.
Palace in Mikulov
The palace in Mikulov very often, due to its grand size and a translation error from the Czech language, is mistakenly referred to as a castle. So to emphasize - the Palace in Mikulov is a baroque building located in the heart of Mikulov, on the Palace Hill (Zamecký vrch), and is the dominant building of the city. Currently, the palace houses a permanent exhibition of the Mikulov Regional Museum. Numerous cultural events are also organized there, incl. annual grape harvest. During our trip, taking advantage of the excellent weather, we focused on the open areas of the city and the surrounding area.
