Itinerary description

Mt. Ainslie climb from Ainslie-Hackett Saddle with extended return on east slope. Can be combined with the Mt. Majura-Ainslie Majura Saddle Circuit to make a longish 'Twin Peaks' walk.

The mapped track starts on the Hancock Road 'saddle', which can be gotten to from various places in Hackett and northern Ainslie, such as the parking lot at the end of Phillip Avenue. The round trip from there would be approximately 10k. I describe it as 'walking', but wouldn't want to drag kids along it unless they were a bit into rough dirt road surfaces.

An alternate descent would be via the Quarry Track, but, in spite of its signage, this is steep and in poor condition, so many people might not want to attempt it.

The way back under the power line is good for conditioning (ups and downs!), an alternative is the OSM track that branches off to the left at the second waypoint. Being mostly through casuarina, this is often hard to follow, and especially so after it crosses the path we take on the way up, so if you try it, best to turn right and go back to the powerline road.
