This is a trail that eventually leads to the top of the Canyon, but does not go inside.

If you follow the signs for The Canyon, the path goes higher than the original maps show, to the waterfall above it. There appears to be no more trail to the Canyon itself, although I did find a very weak remains of one in the exact location the old maps show.
