Itinerary description
This trail similar to all the trails in the Reserve suitable for hiking/ jogging / running/ biking.
I decided today to mix hiking with jogging.
This beautiful trail runs through the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, offering breathtaking views of the Barouk Cedar Forest and its surrounding landscapes ( you will be able to see mount hermoun, sannine, kneisseh). Garmin reading: The trail is a 13.54 km loop with a challenging elevation gain that ranges from 1,337 m to a peak of 1,929 m. The route is suitable for seasoned hikers or trail runners looking for a moderately intense adventure with steep ascents and descents.
Key Features:
Terrain: A mix of dirt paths, rocky sections, and forested trails.
Elevation Profile: Starts with a steady climb to the peak, providing panoramic views at the highest point, then gradually descends back to the start.
Difficulty: Moderate to hard, requiring good stamina and fitness, especially for the uphill segments.
Scenery: Stunning cedar forests, terraced landscapes, and distant mountain views.
Access:
The trail starts and ends near the main entrance of the Barouk Cedar Forest in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve. Parking is available near the starting point.
Best Season:
Spring and autumn are ideal for this trail due to mild weather and vibrant scenery. Avoid during wet conditions as the path may become slippery.
This loop trail is perfect for nature enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in one of Lebanon's most iconic natural reserves!
