👉-Today we take a trip to a Nubian Village.
The trip can be made by motorboat or aboard a felucca, a small traditional sailing boat.
We first took a felucca from the main port and transferred to a motorized boat to the village.
During the tour, you'll see the mausoleum of Sultan Aga Khan, the famous Elephantine Island, and the iconic Old Cataract Hotel, known for its famous guests, including Agatha Christie, who spent long periods there working on novels such as "Death on the Nile."
After reaching a “beach” on the banks of the Nile where it is possible to swim, some take a camel ride following the riverbed to the village.
Nubian villages are known for their distinctive whitewashed houses decorated with beautiful, colorful paintings. Once in Gharb Soheil, you'll see small stalls selling drinks and handmade souvenirs. You'll also have the chance to step into one of the traditional houses to learn about it while sipping tea. If you're feeling adventurous, you can always get a henna tattoo.
We also took a short tuk-tuk trip up to a hill from where we enjoyed incredible views of the Nile and its village.
👍-I recommend it if you want to get to know this town and its people a little, although be careful, it's all too touristy.
👎-I don't recommend it if you can't stand "tourist traps." This is one of them, and I don't like it.
