Did this in reverse.
100% legal.
Fantastic scenery.
Following the correct direction makes you tackle the easier parts first.
After the tunnel it's harder.
4*4 might not be required if you are doing the route in this direction (and not like me who did it in reverse) as the harder part is downhill. Good tires and decent ground clearance is a must though.
Saw a c3 picasso doing the easy way up to the tunnel so anything is possible (if you don't care for scratches/bruises).
Did it in a Toyota hilux with HT-tires. There are a lot of sharp rocks after the tunnel so take it easy if you don't have AT or MT tires.
