Itinerary description
I'm getting too old for this ship - I mean canoe. This is a great, easy paddle, but these large mangrove islands can be deceptive for navigating, so you have to pay attention. The channels and rivers are pretty easy to follow.
There's a big sand bar on the south side of the Big Marco River where we turn south and see birds. This time it was Roseate Spoonbills. There was a slight breeze, but the temperature rose as we paddled. It's why we launch early... Once the sun comes up, it keeps getting hotter.
