Itinerary description

Yakeyama it's an active volcano with a very famous hot spring facility known for the presence of radium in its water. Many japanese go there to heal some diseases and it is recomended to stay a couple of days.

To start the course we will follow the hot spring sightseeing itinerary and have a look at the information panel we find. We have to go up following some stone path until we reach stone stairs. In august 2022 the plants had grow that much that it was very difficult to even see the path to walk into. Please have a look at the pictures but also be aware it is just in certain points. Once you are inside the forest it's an easy path to follow. However, due to the thickness of all the plants (really looks like a jungle) maybe small children shouldn't do it. However, if they have cleaned it, no problem for fit kids to make it to the top.
Once we have passed the first "jungle" the stairs finish and we follow a normal mountain track. It keeps going up (it rains often so there is mud everywhere) until we arrive at a point where the forest opens and we can already smell and see the smoky crater. You will see a "no trespassing" plastic line so we have to go to the right. This last area before the top has again super dense and high plants so it was again tough to pass. On the way back we tried to do it throw the crater but it was even worse. I recommend to take the high plants path.
Once we are in the top area, awesome views and we since we can see the other side, appears one hot sping lake with its boiling water. Very beutiful and very different from the mountains I am used to climb.
