Itinerary description
Smar Jbeil, a nice village at the border between Jbeil and Batroun regions. It is rich with archeological sites and ruins. Its famous 2000 years old mixed roman and crusader’s fortress, is a must visit site; very impressive. The trail starts easy, downhill on dirt roads, yet we found some difficulty finding the trail among oak trees, as it was hidden with bushes. The second part of the loop is really challenging. It includes a steep uphill trail around, 400 meters elevation in 2kms. Near the end, we had to find our way among thick bushes and oak trees to reach the trail again, be careful. If you follow the recorded trail as is, you will be able to make it. The trail is advisable for experienced hikers and highly recommended. Stay safe
