Itinerary description
Sam’s Point is a great way to get out of the city and experience the Shawangunk Mountains. It is a Nature Conservancy site so a reservation and permit are required to hike up in the preserve.
The Shawangunk Ridge is one of the most important sites for biodiversity in the northeastern United States.
It’s an amazing hike and has been called the Grand Canyon of the East Coast. This hike is dangerous and should not be done alone. Be cau- tious of rattlers; this area is notorious for them. Have fun and remember to bring a headlamp!
Preserve. Call ahead of time: 845 647-7989
