Itinerary description

I suggest changing the order of these two hikes to do the Pt Defiance Loop first, then the Buttermilk Bend Trail after because peeps will want to take LOTS of photo on the BB trail during the spectacular blooming season.

Point Defiance Loop: the hike starts uphill on switchbacks going thru a beautiful meadow. Once you crest the hill, it will be all downhill until you reach the South Fork Yuba River. After a short break at the campground, the trail back along the river does have a few sketchy rock sections and trail erosion but nothing that a moderate hiker couldn’t contend with.

Buttermilk Bend Trail: this part is easy-smeasy but there are some steep drop-offs and very narrow parts AFTER mile 0.7. The first 0.7 miles is stroller & wheelchair friendly. The wildflowers were showing off beautifully today and the trail had little signs advising what the flowers are.
