Pico do Facho

O Pico do Facho é o ponto mais alto do Porto Santo com 516 m de altitude. Este pico foi importante ao longo da história, pois permitiu avisar da aproximação de navios piratas ao arquipélago, dando assim algumas horas para se preparar para o ataque de piratas.

Iniciamos o percurso próximo à base do Pico do Castelo e seguimos pelo caminho que leva ao Radar. Fomos até o Radar e retornamos para subir ao cume do Pico do Facho. Neste pedaço não tem vereda, subimos entre árvores e pedras e chegamos bem próximo ao seu cume. É um pequeno desafio.
Neste percurso temos uma vista fabulosa da Ilha, da Cidade Vila Baleira, do aeroporto, do porto, e dos outros picos da Ilha.
Este trajeto é curto e de dificuldade técnica moderada, o trecho que sobe ao cume do Pico do Facho não tem vereda, é subir entre árvores e pedras. Não vi no local nenhuma sinalização proibindo a subida ao cume, porém não sei se é permitido, fica aqui o aviso.

Pico do Facho is the highest point in Porto Santo with an altitude of 516 m. This peak has been important throughout history, as it allowed us to warn of the approach of pirate ships to the archipelago, thus giving a few hours to prepare for the attack by pirates.
