Itinerary description
First hour is a slog till it opens up with views of your goal!
Striding Edge comes on you all of a sudden with what is probably the worst part from a vertiginous point of view. Pick you way carefully or just follow everybody else, because unless you choose a rough day you certainly won't be on your own. Be warned, the last section is verging on rock climbing!
From there it's a gentle amble away from the crowds on Helvellyn across Nethermost Pike & Dollywaggon Pike.
The descent to Grisdale Tarn is a bit of a challenge but at least you can dip your toes at the bottom.
Grisdale may seem like it's going to be a long boring straight path but it's one of those awe inspiring valleys that make you feel you're the only person on the planet.
