Itinerary description
Day 4.A. Bakestall. 1 Wainwright.
There is a small gravel pull in at the start point for about 5 cars. Head up the track for about 1.5kms before turning right slightly to go through a side gate. The route/path is obvious to you as it goes up very steeply to the right of Dead Beck. The first 200m of climbing is a lung buster and then the last few hundred meters evens out to the cairned top of Bakestall. There is a defined path heading off NW, follow this to Dead Beck and over the beck to nearby Cockup. Follow the gpx tack then as you head North and drop down NNE back to the side gate and retrace your steps to the start point.
Parking: Small gravel pull in for 5 cars.
Route: Defined paths in the main, a bit of cross country coming down from Cock Up and some tarmac. Nice views and a very pleasant short walk overall.
Route Statistics: 6.5kms with 370m of ascent done in 2 hours flat.
