Itinerary description
This walk starts and finishes in Pangbourne. After taking the lower route out of Whitchurch it climbs into the Chiltern Hills affording views over the Thames as you decend into Mapledurham. From there the walk climbs back up into the hills towards Whitchurch Hill, depending via a footpath near the road to Whitchurch and across the Thames to Pangbourne. Most of the walk is on footpaths, bridleways or small lanes. There is an alternate route down from Whitchurch hill further from the main road, but rain had already started. Food and drink in Pangbourne Whitchurch and Whitchurch Hill. Sadly there are no facilities in Mapledurham and it is not possible to cross the Thames to the nearby cafe in Purley.
