Itinerary description

Long hike to Bunagadake from Hira station.
The trail is characterized by its diversity, starting with 2 major waterfalls and a simple trail along the river side. Follows a steeper part which alternates from river side to rocks. At the end of the ascend it is easy to get on the wrong side of the ridge and caution is advised.
From Kita-Hira path the scenery becomes more typical of the Hira range with very few trees to spoil the view of Lake Biwa and surrounding mountains. From the path to Bunagadake we hike along an abandoned ski slope before a last stretch of slightly steeper and rockier terrain.
At the top of Bunagatake a lot of wind, very convenient to get dry.
The first part of the descent to Kanekuso path (which literally means the golden shit path... didn't understand how the name relates to the place) is mainly following a river with small waterfalls. The second part is steeper and on hard rocks, before reaching the last waterfall, which no one would find without the sign as it is called kakure-daki (the hidden waterfall)

A good hike but not suited for beginners.
