Itinerary description
10/04/2025 - This walk was very sadly undertaken a few days after a major wildfire all around Stac Pollaidh and as a result you will see from the pictures that everything below the crags in one of the pictures is black. Everything in the Highlands is tinder dry as I write these notes. The ascent is very straightforward and a very well defined path. We chose to only take in the ridge and eastern summit, the western summit requiring scrambling skills beyond mine! The eàstern summit does require a short very easy scramble from the ridge. On the day in question the ascent to the ridge was only accompanied by a gentle breeze, but this was replaced by a gale as we hit the ridge so beware since the change was instant. Wonderful views of Suilven of course at the top as well as other close peaks such as Cùl Mòr. The Quinag range was easily picked out beyond Suilven but they are for our next trip. Wonderful weather made this a memorable walk, but I'm left with sadness to see the devastation caused by the wildfire.
