Itinerary description
A loop walk that could be started where Howards Lane joins the Old Hume Highway or from the end of Howards Lane. Limited parking. There is quite a steep climb to the top of Gibbergunyah, either by firetrail or by a more pleasant path that winds through the adjacent bush. Most notable feature on Gibbergunyah is a dramatic rock formation, a sacred place for local Aboriginal people who hold a ceremony here each year. A short excursion to the 90-Acre Hill lookout is worthwhile. Here there is a cairn and plaque that shows directions to various local features and to Katoomba, which is in sight. The walk continues around the Goanna Circuit along firetrails, then returns the way it came. Gibbergunyah reserve can also be accessed from the Bowral side, via Boronia Street.
