Nice Sunday-afternoon route from Pijnacker to the Ackerdijkse Plassen: an important, protected bird area in the Netherlands, which, despite the hustle and bustle of the Randstad, accommodates many special birds. Although the area is not freely accessible, there are many possibilities to see the many special birds from one of the observation points.

The way to the Ackerdijkse Plassen follows De Oude Leedeweg, a quiet rural road. The actual tour around the Ackerdijkse Plassen begins and ends at WYPT "Knooppunt07". The nicest part of this tour is probably the Zwethkade that starts at the WYPT with the same name. The way back to Pijnacker passes along another, smaller and younger bird area: De Groene Keijzer, see corresponding WYPT. The N470, which is adjacent to the area and the bike path along it, is hardly noticeable thanks to an elevated dike between the road and the path that hides the passing cars from view. Be careful when crossing the N470 at the end of the biking path (see WYPT "N470")
