I started this slightly longer walking or jogging trek at the Mary Schenley Memorial Fountain in Central Oakland at 40.44201°N and -79.95205°W. I walked along Schenley Drive crossing the Schenley Bridge at 40.44134°N and -79.94928°W. I made a brief stop at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens located at 40.43925°N and -79.94732°W. It’s a place that one should visit if you’re in town but the hours of operation accessibility have been modified in light of the ongoing SARS-CoV2 Pandemic. I stopped by Flagstaff Hill just across Schenley Drive at 40.43971°N and -79.94663°W but placed the trail waypoint at the flagstaff without electing to follow the trail up the mound. From the top of this very short mound you’re able to get a good view of the Oakland district of Pittsburgh. From here you’d go right to Panther Hollow Road crossing the historic Panther Hollows Bridge at 40.43788°N and -79.94706°W. There’s a small monument in the greenspace at the crossroads of Panther Hollow Road at 40.43608°N and -79.94633°W. Stay left following Panther Hollow Road until the intersection with Greenfield Road and Hobart Street located at 40.43286°N and -79.93652°W. Turn heading right along Greenfield Road crossing the Greenfield Bridge at 40.42922°N and -79.93757°W. Proceed directly across the lights at Beechwood Boulevard and Ronald Street at 40.42708°N and -79.93859°W heading along Ronald Street onto Greenfield Avenue at 40.42570°N and -79.93843°W. Follow along Greenfield Avenue past Magee Field and Recreation Center. I turned left at Greenfield Avenue and Loretta Street at 40.42179°N and -79.92971°W and then left at Loretta Street and Murray Avenue at 40.42193°N and -79.92887°W. Just follow along Murray Avenue past the bridge crossing Interstate 376 at 40.42777°N and -79.92589°W. I turned left at the intersection with Murray and Forbes Avenues at 40.43803°N and -79.92295°W. The idea here is just to follow Forbes Avenue back to Central Oakland in any way that you like. It can be terminated at Schenley Drive and you can traverse a part of Schenley Park again if you prefer. I turned right at the corner of Forbes Avenue and South Bellefield Avenue at 40.44396°N and -79.95071°W. You’d go past the Heinz Memorial Chapel and then I turned left at South Bellefield and Fifth Avenues at 40.44644°N and -79.95192°W. I made a stop at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial at 40.44449°N and -79.95575°W and then the William Pitt Union Building at 40.44376°N and -79.95469°W before stopping by the Cathedral of Learning at 40.44398°N and -79.95363°W. From here I just walked down Schenley Boulevard to return to the starting point of the track.
