Lapland is that mythical land located in the Arctic Circle, a geographic region of Northern Europe shared by several countries: Finland, Norway, Sweden and Russia.
The region of Lapland or Finnish Lapland is one of the nineteen regions of the Republic of Finland. It is covered with forests and snowy wastelands that are lost on the horizon, where the Sami people live, herds of reindeer and huskies are raised.

The inhabitants of the Lapland region represent 3.6% of the Finnish population.
Finnish Lapland is a land of contrasts, where the sun does not set in summer and is always daytime, and does not come out in winter, and the polar night known as the "Kaamos", which covers the region in a darkness that it does not become completely dark, since there is an extraordinary blue light that makes this earth look magical.
Lapland is a land of freezing temperatures in winter, of northern lights that fill the skies with color.

Lapland is also the land of Santa Claus who installed his headquarters in a small town of Rovaniemi and that opens the doors all year round to all those who want to visit him, except of course, when he has to go out to distribute gifts in his car thrown by reindeer all over the world.

Winter is the best time to get to know Lapland, the landscapes of forests, hills and moors are filled with snow, which in some places is so thick that it makes the trees lean with their weight. It is a land where nature reigns over everything, where life has not been easy for the human being because of the harsh climate. The winter trip through Finnish Lapland discovers a world of snow and ice that seems to have sprung from a dream.

URHO KEKKONEN NATIONAL PARK

The National Park of Urho Kekkonen is a land covering 2,550 kilometers, particularly rich in animal and plant life and with fascinating landscapes, which in 1983 became one of the largest protected areas in Finland.

His name honors a President and Prime Minister of Finland in the mid-twentieth century.

It is one of the largest and wildest in Europe, an environment that is discovered and enjoyed little by little, either with skis in the background, with snowshoes or Safaris (in snowmobiles or in huskies) to enjoy the environment and the landscape.

There are numerous trails both natural and arranged by the hand of man, some of them made many years ago.

The park is crossed by the famous Suomujoki River, where you can enjoy some of the most enchanting natural scenery in the region. The marked paths in its western part are an easy destination, even for inexperienced backpackers, while the wilder parts are good for long and demanding trips. Urho Kekkonen Park borders the Sompio Strict Nature Reserve.
