Odlučili smo napokon voziti Parenzanu.
Željeznička pruga Parenzana, porečka ili vinska željeznica, izgrađena početkom 20. stoljeća, a izgradnja je uređena posebnim zakonom austrijskog parlamenta. Za povezivanje Trsta s Porečem, a predviđeno je i proširenje Kanfanare, gdje bi se povezivalo s glavnom željezničkom prugom Divača-Pula. U svibnju 1900. započela je izgradnja željezničke pruge širine 76 inča, koja je otvorena za promet 15. 12. 1902. Na putu od Trsta do Poreča bio je niz tunela, vijugavih i strmih uspona i spusta. Najatraktivniji dio trase nekadašnje željezničke pruge, a danas je jedan od Oprtlja i Završja, a zatim se uzdiže prema Motovunu, a od Motovuna preko Baldaša dolazi do Vižinade. Ovaj dio Istre sada je dostupan kao pješačka i biciklistička staza, a tu je i druga najviša točka od koje je nekada stigla Parenzana - 273 metara Nada mora i očuvan kameni vijadukt ispod sela Sveti Vidal.
Željeznica je neprofitabilna, stvarajući gubitak, pa je talijanska vlada 1935. godine ukinula, demontirala i zamijenila autobusima. Jedna od legendi o Parenzani kaže da su Talijani rastavili željezničku prugu i pokušali prevesti brod u Abesiniju, ali je oluja potopila brod i željeznica je uvijek ostala na dnu Mediterana.
O Parenzani su i druge priče, legende i fotografije, veliki dio danas su preživjeli i postaje uz tračnice, ali nisu označene. Općina Vižinada oživljava uspomenu na otvaranje Parenzane za posjetitelje staza koje su nekada išle linije i organizira biciklističku utrku koja nosi ime uskog kolosijeka Poreč.
Auto parkiramo u Livadama. Put nas vodi kroz mostove i tunele do prekrasnog Grožnjana. Mala pauza i nastavite prema Bujama.
Vratimo se natrag na glavnu cestu za Vižinadu. Od Vižinade ponovno na Parenzanu do Motovuna gdje se spuštamo na glavnu cestu i natrag u Livade.
We decided to finally ride Parenzana.

The railway is unprofitable, creating a loss, so the Italian government in 1935 abolished, dismantled and replaced by buses. One of the legends about Parenzana says that the Italians dismantled railway line and tried to translate the boat in Abyssinia, but the storm sank the ship and rail are always remain at the bottom of the Mediterranean.
About Parenzana are other stories, legends and photographs, a large part of today are survivors and stations along the tracks, but they are not labeled. Municipality of Vižinada revives the memory of Parenzana opening for visitors paths which once went lines and organizing cycling race which bears the name of narrow-gauge railway Porec.
We park the car in Livade. The road takes us through bridges and tunnels to beautiful Grožnjan. Small break and continue to Buje.
We return back to the main road to Vižinada. From Vižinada again on Parenzana to Motovun where we descend to the main road and back to Livade.
Livade is a village located near Oprtalj and Motovun, in Istria, Croatia. The spa Istarske Toplice is located in Livade.
Oprtalj is a historical fort town protected with massive town walls, in the centre of which a bell tower is located, surrounded by picturesque houses built in the style of the traditional Istrian architecture. Several churches near the town maintained their old significance and are filled with art works that are still preserved, despite the turbulent history. A walk on the stone streets and squares of the town leads to many sightseeing locations. Hiking or walking in the surrounding areas provides an unforgettable view of the landscapes of the untouched nature, while hunting tourism was developed for guests wanting adventure and a more active holiday. It is best to end the excursion to Oprtalj with a visit to one of the family agricultural tourisms and taverns. The gastronomic offer consists of home-made specialties prepared according to traditional recipes, and the autochthonous aromatic truffle mushroom is in the centre of the story. An excursion to Oprtalj is a perfect way to get to know Green Istria, hidden from the hustle and filled with excitements, always hospitable and open.
avrsje is nested on a 240-metre high hill, amid marl and sandstone mountainous area where, between Groznjan and Oprtalj, is the south end of Karst. It has always been a town of farmers who worked the fields and grew olives and fruits; there were also leather tanners. The town was surrounded by double walls, partly still visible, which had two gates; the remains of one can still be seen. Above this gate there are ancient bas-reliefs and a coat of arms of the Contarini family, who owned the town for three centuries. A cobblestone road leads to an elevation with an ancient church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Holy Rosary with a church tower. The church has a round apse and a portal with pointed arch with inscribed year 1879, when it was last renovated. It was built in the 16th century and renovated in 1634, when of the four original altars only two remained.
Grožnjan is located above the Mirna River valley on a hill above the sea level of 228 meters. Medieval urban complex has remained largely untouched until now. It is a natural base for an intense and interesting life Grožnjan lives today. We invite you to share it with us.
Away from the sea ten miles has always been attractive for settlement. From the 1358th The Grožnjan has free status of the municipality. In the fifties of the last century just becomes part of the municipality Buje. Since 1993. The re-gained the status of municipalities.

The historic center of Vižinada keeps a number of cultural and ethnographic monuments. On the central town square has been preserved stone relief of the Venetian lion from the 15th century. Below the relief is a stone plaque built in 1726 in the facade of the former Fontika (warehouses) palace, which testifies to the rich economic activity - in Vižinada be paid loading and unloading of different merchandise in Bastia port on the River Thames. A front Fontika on the market in 1772 built the local TANK with two wells, designed by famed architect Simone Battistella Rovinj, recently completely restored.
In the northern part of Istria, overlooking the Mirna River valley, lies surely the most famous and attractive Istrian medieval town of Motovun-Montona. This captivating hilltop town is one of the characteristic symbols of the Istrian interior.
The Romanesque-Gothic bell tower with a crenulated crown from the 13th century, standing next to the Parish Church of St. Stephen from the 17th century, dominates the town's historic core. In the central square is the Romanesque Municipal Palace, the largest secular building in Istria of that period surrounded by many other historic buildings. As Motovun-Montona has long since been an attractive and popular tourist destination accommodation is offered in the town centre, in hotel Kaštel situated in the restored palace of the Polesini family.
Motovun-Montona is the perfect venue for a large number of events, the most significant among them being the International Motovun Film Festival that takes place at the end of July where world-known film artists may be seen. Motovun is also interesting for ballooning lovers, its favourable microclimate enables flying in balloons all year round, so that Motovun-Montona hosts several ballooning events.
Motovun Forest which stretches along the Mirna River valley is especially rich in truffles, the underground malodorous fungus believed to be an aphrodisiac. Istrian white truffles, whose season lasts from September to December are said to be as good as the finest Italian and French truffles.
Opposite Motovun-Montona stands the charming picturesque town of Oprtalj-Portole, as well as Livade, famous for the Days of Truffles held every year from September to November. Every year in Livade, also known as the World's truffle centre, a special festival is organized with a contest of choosing the largest truffle.
Motovun-Montona is surrounded by vineyards from which the finest Istrian wines, white wine Malvasia and red wine Teran, are produced. The entire area is dotted with excellent local ‘konobe’ and restaurants.
