We like to make this trial. It's a little on the difficult side even with a GPS and aerials because in certain areas, everything does look alike, and the tunnel entrances are hard to find even if you're within 20 ft of them. Also, technically this is not NWR Trail #2. The actual Trail 2 heads east after porting across the Marsh Trail. This trail goes south and then west around the southern terminus of the Marsh Trail and then back north. We've marked it with pink (cerise? flamingo?) engineer's flagging so we can find our way more quickly, and we still make wrong turns.
The launch is safe and easy, with parking nearby, but the trail can only be made in the wet season.
It is an excellent paddle with various scenery, and you can stop at the Marsh Trail pad if you need a break. We rated the trail as difficult because of navigation. If the flagging is gone, pay attention to your GPS.
