Lake Mead (in English: Lake Mead) is the largest reservoir (reservoir) of water in the United States. It is located in the Colorado River basin between the states of Nevada and Arizona, specifically in the counties of Clark (Nevada) and the county of Mohave (Arizona). It is formed by the Hoover Dam (Hoover Dam)

This lake is named after Elwood Mead (1858-1936), who was the commissioner of the US Bureau of Reclamation from 1924 to 1936 during the planning and construction of the Boulder Canyon Project that formed the dam and this lake. Mead Lake was established as a Boulder Dam Recreation Area in 1936, administered by the National Park Service.

This lake is divided into several masses of water. The main water mass, Boulder Basin, is near the Hooover dam. The mountain range of the Jagged mountains surrounds the lake, there are also the River Mountains and the Muddy Mountains
