near Mothar Mountain, Queensland (Australia)
If you want a nice peaceful forest walk try this 9km hike through Woondum Forest, 20km east of Gympie. Start your journey by taking the forest road which leads off to the north (left) just as you enter Woondum forest, at the end of Madill Rd. 2km along this road you will reach a tight corner to the right at which point leave the road and follow the small trail down to your left. This track takes you down to Woondum Creek (you will see an old iron gate beside the creek.) Cross the creek and continue straight along an old forest road which will eventually take you onto Hill Rd. Turn left and you will go down, cross Boulder Creek and reach Mothar Mountain Rock Pools. This is a great place to have a swim before you rock hop 800m upstream along this creek (Woondum Creek) and reach the track which you came down earlier (with the iron gate). Turn right, head up the trail back to your car. The creeks in this area are clear and just so pretty.
