near Shāh, Raʼs al Khaymah (United Arab Emirates)

We did this hike yesterday - 12 January 2018 - Great hike overall, except for the two points below. We couldn't find the donkey path either - only spotted it towards the bottom of the very steep slope. the part between WP11 and WP12 was the most difficult - it's very steep and the stones/gravel are all loose. A big section of it we did on all fours ie hanging on to a larger rock to ensure of foot below was secure. If this section was different terrain, the walk would have been perfect.

The second part that wasn't clear on the trail is the first turn to WP4. We ended up walking too far forward and met it from the back. This wasn't too bad, it was quite steep though.

Total time 7 hours. It is moderate to difficult in some sections. Need 3+ litres of water. I took 2 litres and ran out 3/4 of the way. Would do this again having known what to look out for.

The donkey trail can be found if you go to the top of the mountain, elevation about 500 m. On your way, you will find emirati house, actually the residence of shepherds. Cross their houses and you will a trail going down. But it vanishes very soon. You have to find your own way. Safety equipment is necessary and also a lot of water.
