This is real alpine trekking with passages in complex and diverse terrain, boulders, snow, rivers, roots... The elevation gain from Stuart trailhead is 2.100 meters/6300' and in addition the 2700m/7100' descent is not always an easy trail.
If you don't have an overnight permit this is the only way to do it , and it is worth the effort. You can apply to the yearly lottery for campsites if you want to spend more time in this beautiful area.
It is important that your shoes are the most comfortable you have. No real need for hard boots. We did it in trail running shoes Salomon Lab and Hokas. Poles highly recommended. Bring headlight as you may finish after dusk.
(And Thank You to Wikiloc that put us back on track a few times as the trail is not always well marked!
The recording is not complete at the end out of battery . I uploaded another complete route.
