The charm of Groningen’s nothingness

The hike is part of the route leading to the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. It passes through the endless flat fields of the region called Hoogeland – interrupted only by churches on mounds of several metres high. Expect Dutch panoramas characterized by immense nothingness, sporadic small villages, picturesque churches and a number of typical windmills.
