near Kilcash, Munster (Ireland)

I’m keeping these summaries short as I’m on a two month tour of Ireland and there’s a lot of hills to hike and therefore lots of entries.
All mapping used are view ranger digital OS 1:50 or 1:25. You will get the best results by uploading my wikiloc gpx giles into this mapping software.
Basically this was a quick evening hike after fixing a gas leak on my van. You start at a small 2-3 vehicle car park at the base of Slievenamon just north of Kilcash.
You cross the road and follow the marked track for about 500m and go through two double gates. You then simply follow the path northwest to the top. You follow a forest on your right half the way. For the last two hundred metres or so the path splits and you can go either way. At the summit there is what you can only describe as a large stone ‘member’, a trig point and a cairn. You simply turn round and retrace your route down.
Make sure you enjoy the views of the Comeragh mountain range as you go.
A start to finish time of 1hr 45mins for 6.5kms with a 485m climb. A great little outing.
