Leaving Sant Quirze de Besora, we pick up the GR3. Our trail is a rocky footpath that winds its way up behind the Bac del Serrat and continues up to the Serra de la Cogullera. We'll walk along the rocky ridge for a while, skirting the Puig del Juí and descend briefly to an open plain and the ruins of an abandoned masia before climbing back up to the highest point in our trail: the Collet de Bosquetell. Leaving the rocky terrain behind, we turn north and descend into the Bac del Mir along a steep and densely wooded forest trail. At the base of the valley we'll break for lunch at a cool & refreshing spot near the waterfall Salt del Mir.
With the hardest part over, the second half of our hike starts off with a gradual descent along forest roads winding around the Serrat dels Matxos and brings us to the Riera de la Foradada. Our trail follows the river's twists and turns, crossing over it, and the many streams that feed it, numerous times. Be prepared - you will get wet!
