We start the route in the firewall that is shortly before reaching El Pilar Refuge. This is going to be the hardest climb of the entire route as we have to save more than 300 meters of altitude so it is convenient to start walking early to take advantage of the coolness of the morning. After a while we reached the top of the Birigoyo (1807 meters) where we can stop to rest next to the geodesic vertex and enjoy the beautiful views we have from the top. We continue walking and we observe the Montaña de la Barquita in front. Now we have to descend to an area where we will walk for a while in the shade of the pines to ascend again and pass through a wooden bridge. A little over a kilometer from it we reach the Black Hole (Volcán de San Juan, year 1949). After a short stretch we will see the Duraznero Crater (Volcán de San Juan, 1949) and an impressive plain of black lavas discharged by it in said eruption. We surround the Duraznero on the right, it is preferable to avoid the path that borders its crater to avoid eroding the terrain. Then we ascend a steep slope that will culminate in the top of one of the twin peaks of Las Deseadas (1933 meters) and the highest point of this route. During the descent from the Desired ones we will observe the Mountain of the Lajiones to the Southwest (Volcano of the Charco, year 1712). When descending we arrive at the Plain of the Witches, point by which passes the road that unites Tigalate and Jedey. About 30 meters to the right in a southerly direction there is a drinking water tank with a tap, among some pines. Then we go through the Llano de los Guanches and descend for more than a kilometer through an area where our feet are sinking in the lapilli (lapilli) at each step and where we will come very well to wear boots and not shoes under. At the front of the path we will see the Cabrera Mountain. We skirt the same one by the left and we will be in front of the Martin Volcano (year 1646) to whose chasm we go up a path. From here the road is practically descending in its totality, in about 15 kilometers we will pass from the 1500 meters to the sea level. After passing the Martin Volcano we will find several detours to the right towards the Fuente del Tión, but it will be more comfortable to go about 2 kilometers and descend a little to the left towards the Recreational Area of Fuente de los Roques to replace the water and even eat on the wooden tables and benches in the shade of the pines. After this we continue descending comfortably among the pine forest, we pass by the junction with the GR130 (Camino Real de la Costa) and we arrive at an asphalted track that we must follow until we reach the town of Los Canarios (Fuencaliente). We cross this population center from North to South and we will meet the San Antonio Volcano with its Visitors Center. We will skirt the volcano on the right, going along a track and passing by Roque Teneguía. A little further on we will take a shortcut to the right to connect with the track that will take us to the Teneguía Volcano (year 1971). After admiring its beauty we surround it by the left, advancing along a path that crosses one of its lava flows. After crossing the road three times we finally arrived at the Fuencaliente Lighthouse, with its beautiful beach and salt mines, putting an end to this wonderful route that I recommend that it be done if you only have time for an excursion during a visit to the Island of the Palm.
