near Torremolinos, Andalucía (España)
We did this route on a Sunday morning when we did not have time to do a longer hike. We went by car to an urbanization above the Sports Grounds of Torremolinos where there is plenty of room for parking. After a short walk we passed under the A7 Motorway to continue climbint on the tarmac road until we found the beginning of the route (thanks to a route published in Wikiloc, because there is a complete absence of signposting) on the right hand side. The first 200 meters passes through a smelly dump of building rubble. Once we got by this area, we joined a service road (made for the laying of gas pipes?), and a further 800 meters along we took a path to the left which brought us up the mountain through the Manantiales (natural springs) Pine Forest until we arrived at the abandoned Quarry. Part of this route follows an abandoned irrigation canal or water pipe. Following our snack, we started our descent by another path through El Pozuelo (the well) until we arrived again at the gas service road. There are various ways to descend, and on our route there are many paths criss-crossing which would be worth exploring. A warning, from the waypoint "error x" to "arriba" you should find a more direct route to avoid the short dangerous part we followed. This route is short and reasonably nice. It is obvious that the Town Hall of Torremolinos has little or no interest in the sport of hiking as the routes lack any maintenance and signposting. The fact that the routes starting here have to pass through a dump, says it all. There are two options, either clean up the dump or make a new route from the road to bypass the rubbish.
