The actual walking time is some 4 ¼ hours but the 800 meters ascent necessitates, and stunning views warrant, frequent stops. So allow plenty of time - we suggest 6 hours..
This circular walk is very hard to beat for its variety of scenery. It starts with a long steep climb up to the Paso Contador. A lovely stroll along the east side of the peaceful Arc Valley reaches the impressive zigzag of the Passet de Golero. Before descending take advantage of a rocky lookout which makes an ideal rest stop. Although the descent is not very long this old path should be taken slowly to admire its’ construction and the spectacular views. Vertigo sufferers might find this descent difficult. A long track walk, to the old Farmhouse ‘La Carrasca’ can be avoided by taking a more adventurous path that starts at Font del Morer. This path climbs steeply to pass between two rock pinnacles and up old bancales to arrive just below La Carrasca. The scenery changes once more, offering glimpses of the Buddhist Colony down in the valley before passing through the narrow pass of the Mas de Sanxet and below the impressive cliffs known as the ‘Rooms of God’. A long but easy stretch of path returns to the outward route and back to the start.
This walk can also be started from the Rincon de Pepe, a better start for larger groups.
For instructions for this start see Passet de Galero from Rincon de Pepe.
