Combined route, walking and shoveling, crossing the Highlands, during the 3rd week of May. Departing from Morar, on the west coast and reached Perth, East coast.
Although it is possible to make the whole route, we took the train from Glenfinnan to Rannoch Station, 2 hours away, approximately 80 km, to be able to finish in a week because we did not have more days off.
For this route we have used a type of inflatable boat, called packraft, between 2 and 3 kg, which you can carry in your backpack and it is also strong enough to descend class III rapids.
We have also taken a sail that made it easier for us to cross the lakes faster, a Windpaddle.
IT IS IMPORTANT to note that on the route you can find steps with CLASS V FAST, Tummel River.http: //www.youtube.com/watch? V = 7TVB8k4EnDM.

From Rannoch Station to Perth you can make the route with canoe or kayak without having to carry large portages, depending on the experience you will have to carry the rapids that you find, it is easy to foresee when you approach one by the sound or the change of slope, the majority class II and class III. If you avoid such rapids, the technical difficulty is moderate.
Incorporating the packraft to travel allows you to travel greater distances, get into more isolated areas and make the route more enjoyable. We have created a blog about packraft with the intention of making this type of boat known to fellow Spanish-speaking travelers, it is still in the process of being built but we hope it is going in less than a month.
