This is a short, well maintained trail that takes you down to Otter Creek. This trail is a historic trail used to access Otter Creek when it was laden with gold in the mid 19th century. Along the way down the trail crosses the Jones Ditch, which was a hydraulic mining ditch that diverted water 20 miles from its source to be used in destructive placer mining. At the stream bedrock mortars can be found which testify to Native American presence in the area before gold was discovered by Europeans. The trail climbs up the other side of the canyon on the Volcanoville side. Look out for poison oak. The trail is designated for hikers, horses, and mountain bikes only. No motorized vehicles are allowed on this trail.
