near Widgee, Queensland (Australia)

Widgee Mountain (40km west of Gympie) gives some amazing views across the local countryside. You are a long way up in the sky as its peak is 710m- double that of Mt Tibrogargen. You will need to drive 6km along Widgee Mountain Rd to the start point. From there, either drive to the hand gliding launch pad (4km along) or do as we did and start walking. Its a very narrow, steeply undulating, 4wd track along this ridge and offers great views through the trees on either side. A further 1km past the hand gliders spot the trail ends, at which stage you will need to scale 40m up a fairly steep and slippery rocky ridge. Once at the top, bush bash 200m SW over to the summit and the weather station. The view from the summit is stunning with a 270 degree view across Wrattens, Glastonbury and Brooyar forests. I have followed this trail  verified  View more

Great hike, amazing views. As stated the last section is steep and the trail harder to follow. We saw a stag, wallabies.

Glad you enjoyed. How lucky are you to see a deer!! I only saw a wild pig on my last trip there. 😖

It was a great walk. I will go again sometime so that I can get to the weatger station. My sister struggled with the height and I didn't like to leave her. Still had a fantastic time.
