near Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Québec (Canada)
Mont Saint-Grégoire is part of the Monteregian Hills, a biophysical unit characteristic of the region. It is the smallest Montérégienne, but its summit that rises to 251 meters exceeds those of Mont-Royal and Mont Saint-Bruno. Mount Saint Gregory consists of an almost perfectly cylindrical intrusion of 680 m in diameter. At the edge of the intrusion, we observe the "corneal belt", metamorphic rocks resulting from the "cooking" of clay shales during the establishment of the intrusion. It goes without saying that with a vertical drop of 200 meters over a small area, the topography of Mont Saint-Grégoire is strongly accentuated.
