near Marsden, England (United Kingdom)
I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I managed to do this (almost) circular in reverse! It was not a problem.
I got to Marsden by the bus from Huddersfield, but there is ample free parking in Marsden to start the tour from near the station.
The way I did the tour there was a long and stiff climb up Old Mount Road, so there might be an advantage in doing it clockwise rather than anti-clockwise so you end up hiking down the road rather than up it.
The first point of interest for me was part of an old packhorse trail near one of the reservoirs.
Eventually you cross Manchester Road and continue on the moorland on the other side to reach Thieves Clough Bridge, an old packhorse bridge, which I found a bit disappointing.
You can't miss an old Engine House near the Manchester Road before crossing it to climb up Pule Hill where you can see ventilation shafts for the railway. Pule Hill provides wonderful views in all directions.
There is a short but steep descent near to Marsden where I found my trekking pole useful for balance.
The 184 Manchester-Huddersfield bus runs along Manchester Road at hourly intervals so you might be lucky and catch one when you finish the tour. I'd just missed one so I walked down to the Huddersfield canal and followed the towpath to Marsden station where I caught a 185 bus back to Huddersfield.
