near Istán, Andalucía (España)

- Drive from Marbella to start walk 45 min
- at village entrance, first street right up then cross and angle sharp right another 15 min to the hike signposts (right Monda), take a left and a few minutes further park at an open parking area just left from crossing
- walk back and up on street, passing a gate and following the signpost ‘Canalon del Charco’
- keep right on this dirt wider track ignoring the two roads going left
- cross river & continue
- take the path of the track that leads you to a stunning waterfall a few metres further
- continue on same road all the way, passing some holiday & farm houses / enough shade
- road changes into unused track a bit overgrown with high grass but easy accessible
- hike along valley upwards and then mostly flat returning on other side if valley offeringstunning views to Sierra Blanca, later to Istan & sea// along the way twice a welcome small river area// few shade here apart from some pine trees
- at a descend the road ends on a T where you follow left towards the river
- cross river and the car is 200 metres further to the right

Hi Saskiam, I followed your route today and everything was fine from the parking area up to the Charco del Canalón waterfall...but then when we went up to the hill to continue the circular, we found a large gate that was locked (new lock? It seems to be the property of Casa Rural el Balatin, which has wooden signs advertising the cabins along the route). We tried to find a way round but couldn't, so we returned the same way we came (which, the majority/all of the other Wikiloc routes apart from yours also do). You must have been lucky that day! We had a wonderful time swimming in the Charco del Canalón pools, though!
