This is a stunning walk. The trail starts at Guthega, access is by car only, some of the road is unsealed but in good condition. Park in the small parking area at the trail head.
The trail is a narrow walking trail, with many small metal bridges over numerous streams/bogs. The track goes up and down, but generally rises as you proceed. The early part of the track is close to the Snowy River, as it flows into Guthega Pondage (ie. a Dam) which is part of the Snowy Mountain Hydro Scheme.
The first major bridge you encounter replaces an early flying fox to cross a stream. The flying fox is still there - but padlocked so it can't be used.
The the trail moves away from the river slightly and proceeds up towards Illawong Lodge. From this area are excellent views of the mountains. The track then reaches a suspension bridge, which is where we stopped. The track proceeds over the bridge for some distance and then stops. (Our map says "goes nowhere").
At this time of the year the wildflowers are in abundance, the Snow Gum forest has lichens etc. Views to the main range, snow covered mountains (depending on the time of year).
There is *no* mobile phone coverage on this track.
