From Hertford North Station to Panshanger Park, Lady Hughe’s Wood, past the site of the former Panshanger House and the remains of the Orangery to Panshanger Great Oak which is estimated to be 450-500 years old

Continue past Broadwater, up onto Chesil Shelf and over A414 footbridge to Birch Green and Letty Green. Possible lunch stop at the Cowper Arms pub or a nearby picnic area then along the Cole Green Way to Hertford.

Go past Hertford Castle, cross the River Lee and return to the start. There is very little mud on this trail even in wet weather.

From Hertford station, go south along North Road. After passing North Road Gardens, turn right on a public footpath that leads to a footbridge over the railway line.
