I did several diversions from the standard route. Notes below assume you are coming from the West.

    1. I stayed overnight in the hut at Collado de Aritxulegui
    2. I believe the route has been changed a little just before Candanchú
    3. After Baiau I went NE to the Estanys Forcats because of the snow. The official route goes South and then E, though the way I went is good.
    4. I took the train from Queralbs to Núria. A better route from Planes to Nuria would be to cut off the descent to Queralbs and go direct to Núria.
    5. From Requesens I went to Espolla rather than going round the big loop to get to Vilamaniscle.

Marking has greatly improved since the beginning of the summer. Only pay attention after Zuriza (to Candanchù) where marking has been removed for a longer trail passing by Lizara.
No words can describe the experience.

Thanks for the info FranCapra. I was in the area on the Senda de Camille this summer, walking from Lizara to Somport partly on the "old" GR11. The advantage of the new route is you avoid crossing the scree slopes after the Ibón de Estanés which are forever slipping.
