Leave a second car at the trail end (or a push-bike if you're looking for some additional exercise), and then drive to the start. There's only 3 parking spaces at the trail start (just before you get to the creek at the bottom of the gorge), so it's best to start early in the day.
This walk follows the Great Northern Walk for all but the last ~2kms, so it's well signposted.
The first section - before you reach the tidal waters of Berowra Creek - is easy to follow but a bit rough in places, so watch your step.
After passing through the camping area, look for continuation of the Great Northern Walk to your right - it picks up with a boardwalk through some marsh land.
When you cross over the creek at the head of Sams Creek (33°37'18.4"S, 151°07'46.4"E), look carefully for the GNW trail markings. From head you head steeply up hill to eventually join a fire trail. Turn right and then branch left off onto the GNW again in about 450m. From here it's about another 850m to get to the trailhead on Crowley Rd.
