This is an excellent alternative to the main walking track on the Mooloolah side. You start and finish this walk at the Steve Irwin Way entrance. Its a good 12km, flat hike on the bike trail around the north eastern side of Ewen Maddock Dam. This winding track has some nice viewing areas of the dam looking across to the Glasshouse mountains. The trail is called Ferny Forest Loop which suits as there are a lot of bracken ferns glistening in the sun. Warning- you will need to have your wits about you as it a very busy bike trail on weekends or holidays. It may not be the prettiest walk but if you want something close to the coast, with lots of ferns and the occasional water view, its worth a look.
