Following the Tour through the national parks of the west coast today I had to visit one of the most popular: The Grand Canyon.
Something usual when you come to this park is to see it from the different viewpoints. But I liked the idea of going down to the river following one of the two trails that make it, the South Kaibab Trail.
They do not recommend lowering and climbing the entire canyon in the same day, because in addition to the effort involved in overcoming a drop of more than 1000 m, we also have an added factor: heat.
The road has no loss, is very popular and therefore is very steep and without possible confusion.
I did not get all the way down (for reasons of time I had to go back), I went to a viewpoint where you can see the Colorado River up close, which is about 150 or 200 m above the bottom of the canyon.
I was lucky because the climb was made with a bit of rain and cloudy what made things easier, but you have to calculate very well the efforts and especially look very well at the temperatures that are expected for that day, because with heat the thing is It complicates a lot.
I encourage you to take this route because seeing the different heights of this marvel, is priceless, the effort will be rewarded more than enough.
