Second day reigns all the trekking, to which we must add one more element, unlike the other days as the climb to Gokyo Ri, this step of 5400 meters is mandatory to do it for everyone. While the climb to the Gokyo and Kala Patar are optional here we must overcome this tough test. To this we have to add another attraction and that is that we have some stretch in the climb to Chola where we must use our hands, which indicates a good inclination and that when crossing the pass we have about a kilometer of hard snow and in what moments ice . Therefore this will be one of the most demanding and technical days of the entire journey.








To face this day our guide proposes to get up at 4:30 am. Breakfast Time 05:00 am and we started walking at 05:30 am. Therefore a long and demanding day is foreseen, although the distance is not very high.
The Chola pass is a high hill with a steep climb and there is no way to avoid it, but it is not with a walk of several days, retracing the walk. Therefore, the whole group is strong and we will face it in the best possible way.





We begin with a constant rise near a small torrent of water and that without rest takes us to overcome the first 300 meters of accumulated altitude.






Here we stand in a collao with some flags that allow us to contemplate the impressive rise that we have until the Col de Chola. About two kilometers of vertical rise between rocks and fine sand.







Before we have a descent of one hundred meters of height to give a bit more attractive to the rise. As in normal at a very, very calm pace we face the climb.















One of the sensations that appear as you go up is that the heart, however much you stop to rest, does not lower the pulsations. But with good mood and the relevant stops we went up to the pass. Before us the next valley opens, leaving for a few days the whole route that makes up the Dudh river.






We make a stop at the Chola to enjoy the views, eat something and of course gather the group again, each one has a rhythm and that is the best way to go up, without accelerating.







After the relevant photos begins the descent. Here we find a good stretch, something more than a kilometer of hard snow and some ice sheet. This step can change considerably depending on the weather. In our case it was convenient to face it with crampons to print a higher security point.
This is one of the important information we must have when starting the trek. We insisted on obtaining with the agency information about how the passage was, since there are many years that have even had to change the itinerary due to the accumulated snow.
One of the failures of our agency is that they did not tell us this and although it is certainly not necessary to use crampons if you have experience in snow, it does not cost anything to buy rubber crampons, which weigh no more than a few grams and give you a important security. Therefore there is one of the priority queries. In our case we consult with the people who come down and they quickly pass you photos and they indicate you. The transfer in both directions is very crowded.
We continue with the description of the day, after two kilometers of ascent more than an hour and a half we reach the pass and begin the descent.










This runs through a wide valley of snow that descends progressively, although as we descend the path moves to the right crossing a side slope of the mountain.







From this point we begin a descent by a small vertical path where we can observe the whole valley as it opens at our feet. This descent has some small detour and especially be careful. Throughout the descent we made some stops to contemplate the show.







As we descend we arrive at a large esplanade, we change the direction and we turn to the left in search of the village of Dzongla (4830 m).















Another small village I imagine created for the obligatory stop of tourists. A desert site with the hardness of the high mountain but located at the foot of the rise of Cholatse 6300 meters which gives an impressive image.








As an anecdote we enjoyed some fried potatoes with eggs that have recovered us immediately. The same also for the ham from Spain that has seasoned them properly.

    L'etapa més dura. L' ascens al Chola Pass,tot i no ser de dificultat tècnica, suposa un esforç prou considerable i,ja superant els cinc mil metres la resposta del cos és de fa notar. Una vegada superat el collat es travessa una glacera sense excessives dificultats i per terreny ben marcat (com al llarg de tot el trekking) s'arriba a Dzongla.

    Etapa reina de una duresa considerable,on superar la última pujada fins el Chola pass, va ser un infern per a mi i després el arribar fins el final de la ruta és va fer molt llarg i difícil.
