near Einruhr, Nordrhein-Westfalen (Deutschland)
Short and easy walk from Einruhr to the white cross (weisses Kreuz) above Dedenborn and back. You walk along the Rur valley.
You start out at the bridge across the reservoir at Einruhr. Along the road are free parking spots. You walk along the lake until you get to a bridge across the Rur river. Downstream the reservoir starts, upstream is the river. You do not cross the bridge and start climbing slowly with good views of the valley. You keep climbing when you get to a road until you get to the highest point. Here you walk to the white cross, a good viewpoint above Dedenborn. You go back to the road, and then go back to the starting point via the Eifelsteig trail, high above the Rur valley. Just before Einruhr, there is good viewpoint of the village and the lake.
Nothing to eat and drink during the walk, but there are plenty of opportunities in Einruhr. The altitude meter of the GPS was a bit off at the start (should be at ~290 m). We walked this just before sunset.

Nice walk. Our startingpoint was a bit more south. Walked with a 5 year old. Total time was 2,5 hours. Great views.
