A very challenging hike to get a great view of almost half the Écrins National Park. The elevation gain given the short distance makes this a possibly painful hike.
In summary, the way to the Tête was a mixture of finding your way up to it and finding goat trails. We started from Cabane du Tramuoelle and deviated towards the west. On the way up, we found some old, marked trails that hadn't been walked in ages. We found goat trails that disappeared after some time but it was easy enough to know what direction you needed to be going. Once at the base of the Tête, it's well marked and you have a choice to start at the north or south of it. The south is steeper and better marked.
If you want a more secure trail, I suggest going up the way we came down. Just go past the goat farm and keep going north. That path will take you just above the cabin where we started. It adds some kms but it's dead gorgeous scenery. Then you can finish it by having a bath at the river next to the car park :)
