near Dublanc, Saint Peter (Dominica)

This is a hike from the village Dublanc on the coast to the highest point of Dominica, Morne Diablotins. The first section from Dublanc to the Syndicate falls is a approximately 7km light hike on macadam between farmlands. The second section is about 3km mix of walking, scrambling and rock climbing which took about 3 hours. There is no tag "scrambling", so I'm leaving it as hiking. There are sections of crawling on 4 legs, walking on branches about 1 metre above the ground and sections resembling boldering with rocks stacked vertically. There is also a lot of mud and water is dripping from everything, so it is very slippery. As a whole the trail is not well maintained, but specifically the last one kilometre is not very visible and on places is difficult to find and follow. That said this trail is a good challange for these seeking "wilder" experience and higher difficulty.

I noticed the app puts the highest pount at 1346 metres, which shouldnt be true, as the last picture taken trough the app was of the metal plate indicating the point.

For birdwatchers, there were many of both amazona species, A. imperialis and A. arausiaca between kilometre 3 and 7, which is about 400m above sea level. They are easy to be heard, but to be seen they have to move first. For proper birdwatching experience there is no need to go further than the Syndicate falls, as higher in the mountain there were no birds at all.

I have followed this trail  verified  View more

Did this one yesterday and I don’t even know how I did it. Started at 9:30 and didn’t get back to my car until 8:30. Rain fell the entire time. Made an extremely challenging hike even more challenging! Most challenging mountain I’ve ever climbed. The jungle is ruthless. So proud of myself and THANK YOU for uploading this map! If I hadn’t found it, I would have probably needed a guide, and that wasn’t an option for me!
My phone died at the top, so I had to follow my muddy footprints all the way down. Only got lost twice! I’m alive though.
    This one is an accomplishment.
